Job Summary We are seeking a collaborative and driven medical leader to join our team as Program Medical Director, Renal Program. The Program Medical Director will be committed to delivering integrated and seamless renal services throughout the Fraser Health region at hospital and community clinic sites. This senior medical leadership position reports to the Vice President, Regional Hospitals and Health Services and is accountable in partnership with the Executive Director, Community Health Services, Surrey, Jim Pattison Outpatient Surgical Centre and Renal Services, for the planning, delivery, operations and performance of a region-wide program of renal services. The Program Medical Director role provides regional leadership to support the successful delivery of the renal service program within Fraser Health. This senior leadership position is accountable for supporting standardization across the program, recruitment and monitoring performance against standards. The Program Medical Director will support a patient-centred and results-oriented approach. The successful candidate will bring creativity and innovative ideas, support new health care initiatives and programs, promote cultural safety and bring a passion for delivering a service-driven patient experience. Key Areas of Involvement Co-lead the Program with the Executive Director to set standards/guidelines of healthcare delivery and develop systems for monitoring compliance with those standards. Ensure that Member activities are consistent with the overall direction of the Fraser Health service delivery plan. Liaise with Medical Directors of other Fraser Health Programs and Networks, and Site Medical Directors to ensure the services the Program provides are coordinated with the other Programs to provide a spectrum of care to the patients, residents and clients. Meet regularly with inter-disciplinary clinical leaders and administrators to ensure that Member practices are aligned with other activities and initiatives within the inter-disciplinary team. Maintain a high degree of visibility by regular visits to each Facility in which the Program is active. Assist Regional Department Heads in the identification of human resource needs and in the active recruitment of practitioners. Assist Regional Department Heads in dealing with quality of care issues including issues regarding performance, availability and the behaviours of individual Regional Department Members. In collaboration with Site Medical Director and Local Department Head, ensure new Members are adequately oriented to Facility and Program policies, procedures and practices to allow their smooth integration into the Medical Staff. Investigate and document complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Program at the Facility in collaboration with the Site Medical Director and/or Local Department Head where appropriate. Represent the Medical Staff in public on an as requested basis on issues of Medical Staff policies, procedures and quality of care. Preferred Qualifications & Experience Medical degree and 5 years’ recent, related successful clinical practice experience supplemented with medical leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Eligible for membership on the Fraser Health Medical Staff.
