We focus on building capacity, supporting Nation‑led strategies, and creating pathways for healing, economic development, and long‑term success. Role Overview We are seeking an Indigenous Engagement Consultant to join our team on a project‑by‑project basis. This consultant will play a key role in helping Nations, organizations, and partners design and deliver meaningful engagement processes, strengthen policy development, and ensure projects are guided by Indigenous knowledge systems and trauma‑informed practices. This is a flexible, contract‑based position—hours will vary depending on project needs. Projects may range from community engagement and consultation to strategic planning, policy development, and cultural safety initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead and/or support community and stakeholder engagement sessions. Facilitate meaningful dialogue that respects Indigenous protocols, traditions, and worldviews. Contribute to the design, review, and implementation of policies, strategies, and frameworks. Provide guidance on trauma‑informed and culturally safe practices. Draft reports, recommendations, and summaries that reflect Indigenous perspectives and community input. Collaborate with ICLD team members, Nations, and external partners on diverse projects. Qualifications Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and governance structures in BC. Demonstrated experience in Indigenous engagement, consultation, or facilitation. Understanding of trauma‑informed and Two‑Eyed Seeing approaches. Ability to work flexibly, adapt to diverse projects, and manage multiple priorities. Lived experience as an Indigenous person and/or deep experience working with Indigenous communities (preferred). What We Offer Meaningful, impactful work that strengthens Indigenous communities.
