Role Overview We are looking for an Underwriter to join our team in our Vancouver office As a Commercial Underwriter, you will act as a key liaison between TSW and our broker partners. You will be responsible for developing and growing complex commercial risks and business by writing new business, managing a renewal portfolio, providing in-person consultations, and representing TSW at broker meetings, industry events, and client presentations while maintaining profitability and delivering exceptional response time. Responsibilities Underwrite basic to moderately complex books of commercial P&C products, coverage, pricing, production and delivery, risk management, and managing local brokerage plans. Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and delivering value-added solutions. Manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and achieve assigned monthly sales goals. Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements. Analyze data and trends to identify new business opportunities and develop marketing strategies to attract new business. Qualifications 3 to 5 years of experience in P&C underwriting, with a focus on commercial lines and preferably with an MGA. Strong technical knowledge of P&C insurance products and services, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a creative and innovative manner. Proven record of accomplishment of underwriting profitability and growth targets. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Good knowledge of the MS Office Suite. Proficiency in data analysis and Excel. Experience in data visualization tools is an asset. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and translate insights into action. Effective time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and precision. The expected salary for this role ranges from $75,000 to $120,000. Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate’s skills to the role.
