Purchasing Manager

AWC Water Solutions Ltd. specializes in providing integrated water and wastewater treatment plants and many other specialized industrial packaged solutions. AWC Water Solutions is seeking a seasoned Purchaser/Lead with a strategic approach to procurement. The ideal candidate should bring extensive experience in leading procurement activities, developing purchasing strategies, and negotiating contracts in a manufacturing environment. Strong leadership skills and an ability to mentor junior staff are key to this role.

Overview:

The Purchasing Manager is a senior role in the supply chain team, focusing on strategic procurement activities, leadership, and process improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the procurement team in strategic purchasing activities.
  2. Engage in daily operational activities to support the procurement team and ensure smooth workflow.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers for reliable and high-quality sourcing.
  4. Develop and implement comprehensive purchasing strategies.
  5. Negotiate contracts and pricing with key suppliers.
  6. Conduct market research to identify optimal products and suppliers.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with business goals.
  8. Address complex supplier issues, including warranty and returns.
  9. Prepare shipping arrangements and related documentation.
  10. Mentor and guide junior team members in procurement best practices.
  11. Identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks to ensure continuity and uncover cost-saving opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. An ASCM certification is required for this position.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Experience with mechanical equipment, valves, instrumentation and control (I&C) systems, and electrical controls is essential.
  4. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  5. Advanced negotiation and supplier management skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities.
  7. Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in procurement and supply chain operations.
  8. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  9. Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  10. Proficiency in supply chain principles and procurement software.
  11. Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  12. Detail-oriented, organized, and customer service focused.
