Job Summary Speech & Language Therapist – Calderdale CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Team. The team is made up of Clinical Psychologists, Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapists, Neurodevelopmental Practitioners, an Assistant Psychologist and support from consultant psychiatry. • Provide specialist diagnostic assessment to children and young people through face‑to‑face clinics. • Analyse data and decide on further assessment where required. • Offer additional assessments such as school observation or ADOS. • Use diagnostic criteria to present findings to the multidisciplinary team. • Participate in MDT meetings, discuss assessment outcomes and support formulation. • Give verbal and written feedback to patients, families and support systems. • Offer supervision and training to the team and supervise SALT students. • Contribute to service development. Main duties Undertake neurodevelopmental assessments through one‑to‑one assessment and neurodevelopmental interview. Offer additional assessments such as school observation or ADOS. Use diagnostic criteria to analyse assessment information and present findings to the MDT. Participate in MDT meetings by supporting assessment discussions and formulation. Provide verbal and written feedback on assessment outcomes to children, young people and their support systems. Offer supervision and training to the team. Support and supervise SALT students on placement. Contribute to service development. Person Specification Special Knowledge & Skills Demonstrable knowledge working as a speech and language therapist in contemporary Health, Education and Social Care Community relevant to the client group. Knowledge of the functions of related professions with this client group. Experience developing, writing, delivering and evaluating training for clients, families, students or other professionals. Personal Attributes Strong written and verbal communication skills. Effective communication in a variety of settings and with different people. Ability to work autonomously and use initiative. Proven organisational and time‑management skills. Team‑player. Qualifications Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Therapy, or equivalent. RCSLT Certificate to Practice as a Speech and Language Therapist. Current Registration with the Health Care Professions Council. Experience Experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties. Clinical competence in the assessment, diagnosis and management of neurodevelopmental difficulties across a range of clients. Experience coordinating the work of others. Experience assessing children and young people for ASD and ADHD (desirable). Training Proven relevant continuous professional development. Training in specific neurodevelopmental assessments such as ADOS, QB (desirable). Physical Attributes Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post; satisfactory sickness record over the previous two years. Ability to travel across the Trust as required. Subject to Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check. Other Details Band 6 – Salary £38,682 to £46,580 a year. Role is permanent, full‑time, 37.5 hours per week; flexible working can be discussed.
