Reporting to the Director, Compliance Finance, this position will support and assist with the financial planning, reporting and analysis of the operating expenses for areas within Compliance/AML. The role will support both the Compliance/AML project portfolio (SIP) and Business as Usual Operations by ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.The Senior Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day processes, including:
  • Providing financial support for Compliance/AML, including profit planning, forecasting, management reporting, financial reporting & analysis, and SIP reporting.
  • Performing detailed analytical work, drawing key messages, and creating effective presentations for senior management and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Driving continuous improvement in processes and quality of information related to planning, forecasting, reporting, and allocations activities.

Management Reporting, Forecasting & Planning

  • Responsible for the maintenance and production of forecasting/analysis models and reporting decks used to prepare monthly/quarterly management financial reports for Compliance/AML and Business Line stakeholders.
  • Ensures Compliance/AML project financials are reconciled across multiple systems (PeopleSoft, OPEX and CAPPM), for regulatory, management, and SIP reporting purposes.
  • Ensures Compliance/AML new projects are approved according to the SIP Approval policy and lead the business cases review ensuring continued adherence to the Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) and portfolio is on plan at the statutory/BL level. Tracks all project FTE and contract resources.
  • Manage the month-end cut-off processes/deadlines for Compliance/AML units.
  • Ensures Compliance/AML operating expenses are exercised within approved budget by identifying and investigating variances, reviewing monthly accruals and advising stakeholders on Bank’s expense policies.
  • Supports strong financial discipline, and culture focused on prioritization and efficient use of resources, supporting achievement of Compliance/AML financial targets, aligned with Enterprise targets.
  • Support the Director, Compliance Finance in various ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Customer Service and Relationship Management
  • Partner with Compliance/AML management and PMO teams to provide timely support, transparency of information, and insights to support effective decision making and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide expense allocation transparency to the Business Lines CFO’s with detailed information as required.
  • Communicate information to all necessary internal and external stakeholders, explaining financial transactions and resolving related issues.
Leadership & Employee Engagement

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the perspective of continually seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • University degree with a major in Business, Finance, or Accounting, and 5-7 years of relevant experience. CPA/CFA or MBA would be an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), including communication with senior management (VP+) as well as convey information to non-finance professionals.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including members of the management team of Compliance.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills required to simultaneously support multiple projects and complete deliverables on time.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, including ability to create/manage large financial models, pivot tables.
  • Detail-oriented worker.
