Your Role and Responsibilities

The IBM Information Architecture Brand technical SME (Subject Matter Expert) is responsible for providing expert guidance and leadership in the development and implementation of IBM's IA brand strategy. This role requires a deep understanding of IBM's IA portfolio. The SME Brand Technical Specialists are top-level market technical experts and advisors to clients, IBM IA Technical Sales team, IBM sales teams, and/or IBM Business Partners. This role requires a deep understanding of IBM's brand values, messaging, and visual identity, as well as expertise in IA technologies. A team SME plays a crucial role in guiding, mentoring, and supporting a team in their area of expertise.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Sharing knowledge and expertise: A team SME is responsible for staying up to date with the latest developments, trends, and best practices in IA (AI, Data Fabric & Data Management) and sharing this information with the team.
  2. Providing guidance and mentorship: The IA SME helps team members develop their skills, knowledge, and abilities, providing guidance on opportunities, tasks, projects, and career development.
  3. Collaborating with other SMEs: A team SME often works closely with other SMEs within the organization, sharing knowledge, resources, and best practices to ensure the team has access to the necessary support and expertise.
  4. Facilitating communication and collaboration: The SME helps the team communicate effectively, ensuring that everyone understands the goals, objectives, and challenges of the project and how their work contributes to the overall success of the team and organization.
  5. Ensuring quality and consistency: The SME ensures that the team's work meets the necessary standards of quality, accuracy, and consistency, providing feedback and guidance as needed to address any issues or concerns.
  6. Applying industry-specific knowledge and experience, as well as deep product skill and competitive knowledge to bring new business and technology insights to assigned clients, in order to help drive revenue for the Data & AI Solutions portfolio.
  7. Actively developing and progressing opportunities within the Data & AI and Cloud Pak for Data portfolio, mainly around Data Governance, including IIS, Data Stage, Data Quality Optim, MDM, and WKC.
  8. Providing strategic direction to Executive decision-makers related to their Information Architecture to support business transformation and their journey to AI.
  9. Delivering solution workshops, product demonstrations, technical education, and Proof of Concepts while articulating business value for our Data & AI solutions.
  10. Enabling, supporting, and working with the Business Partner ecosystem.
  11. Developing re-usable industry-specific assets and demonstrations.
  12. Collaborating with other internal IBM teams to drive unmatched customer satisfaction.
  13. Establishing deep technical account relationships at each client site.
  14. Maintaining an understanding of the client's industry, including industry trends and business processes.
  15. Collaborating with IBM sales teams to define, design, and detail the technical aspects and feasibility of proposed solutions.
  16. Supporting customer technical escalations, on-site health checks, best practice sharing, designing solutions; and answering technical questions throughout the sales process in order to identify/progress/close sales and develop customer relationships.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Experience delivering MVPs, pilots, or delivery projects with clients in watsonx.
  2. 2 to 3 years of technical experience in the IBM DAI product portfolio.
  3. Experience in Information Architecture, Data warehousing, ETL, Data Integration, and Information Governance with hands-on engineering or field technical sales experience.
  4. Skilled in IBM Hybrid Data Management Portfolio, including IBM Information Server, IBM Data Stage, IBM Data Quality, MDM, and Watson Knowledge Catalog.
  5. Demonstrated level of business acumen as it applies to the client's business.
  6. Skilled in consultative selling, with an understanding of the client's needs and IBM capabilities.
  7. Commercially minded and capable of supporting end-to-end sales engagements with the ability to think, plan and act strategically.
  8. Extensive networking and interpersonal skills in complex environments.
  9. Self-starter with eagerness to seek and build new skills.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Experience in technically showcasing and implementing IBM watsonx solutions.
  2. Relevant IBM architect or specialist certification at level 2.
  3. Experience using and developing infrastructure solutions including but not limited to: Big Data, Replication, Change Data Capture (CDC), DB2 warehouse, Big SQL.
  4. Experience with enterprise-scale distributed solutions/databases including but not limited to: DB2, PostGre SQL, MongoDB, Cloudant, etc.
  5. Knowledge of Hadoop marketplace including offerings of Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR.
  6. Experience with Appliances like Netezza, IIAS, IDAA.
  7. Experience with cloud-native solutions.
  8. Experience with IBM Cloud Paks.
