Sessional Lecturer - BUSI 1450U - Statistics - Winter 2026 Tracking Code: req1787 Faculty of Business and Information Technology Number of Sections: 1 Appointment Type: Limited Term Salary Grade: Administered in accordance with the Collective Agreement Posting Date: November 3, 2025 Closing Date: November 14, 2025 (7:00 pm EST) Course Name and Number: BUSI 1450U - Statistics Location of classes: North Campus Course Start Date: January 12, 2026 Course End Date: May 1, 2026 Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and IT, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in BUSI 1450U - Statistics. The current schedule is: Lecture - Thursdays - 9:40 AM – 11:00 AM Tutorial - Tuesdays - 3:40 PM – 5:00 PM Please note that this course will be delivered in person on Ontario Tech University’s north campus in Oshawa, Ontario. Unless required for student registration purposes, the schedule is not subject to change without approval from an Associate Dean and/or the Dean. Responsibilities/Accountabilities The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments. The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and PSAC. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the contract. Qualifications In addition to the Required Education, Required Skills, and Required Experience set out below, the successful candidate will have a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level, with demonstrated potential for making excellent contributions to teaching. Candidates will be required to certify that they are currently, and will be for the duration of the contract, legally eligible to work in Canada. Required Education The successful applicant must meet at least one of the following qualifications: A Masters or PhD in Business Administration; OR A Masters or PhD in Operations Management; OR A Masters or PhD in Managerial Science. Required Skills The successful candidate will have: Excellent communication skills Strong organizational skills Ability to respond to student inquiries and to grade assignments and exams in a timely manner High level of comfort with interacting with students and colleagues using online modalities such as Google Meet and Kaltura Ability to manage a course effectively using a Learning Management System An ability to develop innovative and inclusive teaching strategies An ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and diverse community Required Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated teaching excellence in a commerce program in a post-secondary environment. Candidates can demonstrate their competence by submitting course evaluations and/or formal peer evaluations. Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
