p>Head Medical have opportunities suited to post foundation doctors seeking an out of programme experience to further their clinical and procedural skills within Emergency Medicine. You will join a supportive team and be based in a Tertiary referral hospital in Hamilton.

The Role

The Hospital in Hamilton is one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres and provides local services for a population of 200,000 and tertiary services for a region of 700,000. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction. The Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.

The Emergency Department is a major referral centre seeing approximately 90,000 presentations per year with a 36% admission rate; The Hospital is a referral centre for major trauma, cardiology and Emergency Medicine is involved in leading the acute multidisciplinary management of referrals from other District Health Boards. The team consists of 23 Registrars, 5 Senior House Officers, 9 Emergency Nurse Specialists, and one nurse practitioner.

Situated right on the banks of the mighty Waikato River, Hamilton is the 4th largest city in NZ and it continues to expand. The west coast and east coast beaches are within easy reach at weekends from Raglan, Mount Maunganui, Waihi Beach and of course, the stunning Coromandel Peninsula. p>

Enjoy the premier ski fields during ski season at Turangi and Whakapapa. Nearby Lake Karapiro hosts national rowing and dragonboat regattas each summer. The FMG Stadium Waikato hosts a range of top quality sports from rugby league, rugby sevens and football. Seddon Park is home to cricket in the Waikato, with large cricket events in the summer (the Blackcaps taking on visiting international teams). p>
