Your Opportunity This is your opportunity to be part of an exciting pediatric program that services the communities across the Edmonton Zone. As a Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) working in pediatrics you will be working both independently & as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will be responsible for addressing communication concerns through activities of assessment, treatment planning, intervention, consultation, education & follow‑up. This will be based on the child's individualized goals with outcomes focused on enabling the child to perform & participate functionally in their community environments including home, daycares, & recreational areas to name a few. Using a client & family centered approach, you will provide clinical direction to the child, their families, therapy assistants & support persons identified as potential agents of change in the child’s life. The SLP will also be responsible for clinical referrals, to accept, screen & assess client needs from a speech‑language therapy perspective in collaboration with other health disciplines in a multi‑disciplinary team setting. You will work in partnership with families & community partners as appropriate, to facilitate referrals and services. As the Pediatric SLP, you will establish & maintain effective communication with colleagues, medical staff & healthcare practitioners concerning documentation, treatment plans, progress & discharge. You will participate in client, family & caregiver education in collaboration with other disciplines, producing & maintaining clinical data, information, electronic documentation & verbal reports to support the delivery of speech & language services. Description As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients / clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Speech‑Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications CPR certification. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Pediatric experience required. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in small groups or individually with children. Experience with Connect Care will be considered an asset. Experience with virtual delivery of services will also be considered an asset.
