OverviewDriver-Mover (Weekends Part-Time) role at WINS (Women In Need Society).Working as part of the Donation Centre team, the Driver/Mover operates one of the WINS fleet of trucks. They pick up individual and corporate/retail donations, transfer donations/inventory between WINS locations and deliver inventory/free goods to WINS clients and customers. The Driver/Mover ensures the donation/delivery experience is positive for donors, clients, and customers and is responsible for ensuring that assigned driving routes are completed in a timely and safe fashion. We continuously strive towards greater impact.ResponsibilitiesReceiving Donations (when Driving or in the Donations Centre): Positively and kindly greet donors and provide them with a safe, cheerful, and thankful donation experience; Evaluate items for donation and communicate any unacceptable items to donors in a kind and respectful manner; Work with Inventory Associates and Moving Associates to unload donations from trucks; Gather information for tax receipt purposes and provide to Manager - Inventory.Property and Product Care: Move products from pick-up locations onto trucks and off of trucks to delivery locations, respecting donor, client, customer, and WINS property; Stack and secure items on trucks to ensure safe transportation.Driving and Truck Maintenance: Safely drive to pick-ups and deliveries; Clean the truck interior and exterior weekly; Ensure daily trip long reports are completed and submitted; Report maintenance concerns to management promptly.Delivering Client and Customer Orders: Greet clients and customers and provide a safe and respectful delivery experience.WINS Inter-location Transfers: Load and unload donations/inventory with assistance from Moving Associates and Inventory Associates or Store Teams.Teamwork: Act as an ambassador for WINS; maintain positive relations with donors, employees, and volunteers; communicate issues or concerns to management.Health & Safety and Industrial Hygiene: Drive safely and defensively; comply with all health & safety practices and policies; maintain a safe working area around trucks and surrounding areas.Donations Centre (When not Driving): Assist with rough sort of donations (clothing, household, electrical, seasonal, etc.); transfer goods to Sort Team workstations; safely bale recyclables and dispose items; manage flow of goods through Sort areas; ensure correct storage and counting of donations/inventory; other duties as assigned.RequirementsEducationGrade 12 education, or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperienceMinimum of 2 years' experience driving trucks; oversize vehiclesPersonal / Professional AttributesValid Class 5 Driver’s license and an acceptable current minimum 2-year Driver’s abstractAble to correctly and safely lift a minimum of 50lbs/23kg individually, and 100lbs/45kg as part of a team, on a routine, consistent basisAn understanding of and affinity for the WINS brand, mission, and role with clients, customers, and communityProvide satisfactory results from a Vulnerable Sector CheckEffective communication skills including proficiency in verbal and written EnglishFamiliar with transportation routes and communities in the City of Calgary; navigation skills using a road map and/or GPSA welcoming and empathetic demeanor with an ability to build and maintain positive relationshipsExcellent client/customer/donor service orientationFlexibility to comply with a work schedule with shifts throughout the weekAble to stand for long periods of timeWilling to work outdoors in all weather conditionsWork-ready with CSA approved steel-toed safety bootsEligible to legally work in CanadaThe Women in Need Society is an equal opportunity employer.
