Job Title: Lead Auditor - Model

Summary of the position:

The Lead Auditor conducts audit assignments from planning to reporting. This includes an assessment of the audited activity, the performance of tests, analysis and controls, and the issuance of recommendations. The person is responsible for the consistency and comprehensiveness of the audit deliverables and, under the supervision of the Risk Management Audit Supervisor and the Local Team Leader, for drafting the debriefing presentation to management and the final report. The person usually may lead a team of several auditors and perform some controls.

The person generally supervises audit assignments that focus on model risks. The person provides support to other IGE Managers for assignments where model risks expertise is needed and monitors the proper implementation of recommended corrective actions addressing these risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct of assignment
  2. Assess the risks of the audited activities and validate the related control environment for its design and operating effectiveness.
  3. Review and challenge the processes and controls in view of their respective purpose and mandates as well as the related risks, relying on fact-based and documented audit works.
  4. Verify the audited unit's compliance with internal policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
  5. Monitor the fieldwork carried out by the team and adjust the fields of audit to the risks identified.
  6. Maintain close communication with the Audit Manager / Head of Local Audit / Regional Supervisor on audit progress following the pre-set timeframe.
  7. Notify immediately the Audit Manager / Regional Supervisor / Head of Local Audit of any major control weaknesses identified during the audit review.
  8. Manage and organize interviews and debriefing meetings with Management impacted by the audit.
  9. Follow up, review and finalize with Management on response to the draft audit report and prepare for the final audit report publication.
  10. Ensure that audit deliverables adhere to the IGE/IGL Methodologies as per the Audit Charter.
  11. Management of a team during an assignment
  12. Define objectives and perform end of assignment assessment for the team allocated during an assignment.
  13. Prepare assignment planning and allocate work streams by team member and manage projects/tasks/staff and budget resources efficiently.
  14. Ensure collaborative and productive relationships within the team and good coordination throughout the International Network and with auditees.
  15. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team by training team members on relevant topics.
  16. IGE Continuous Improvement Program / Transversal topics
  17. Contribute to the ongoing development of IGE's knowledge and expertise on model risks, including regulations and guidelines.
  18. Proactively monitor the evolution of relevant strategies, projects, policies, and procedures to manage and mitigate model risks.
  19. Nurture and disseminate model risks understanding among auditors within IGE.
  20. Contribute to the creation or update of methodologies and audit processes/guides.
  21. Manage resources and budget of the assignment to achieve the objectives of the audit plan.
  22. Contribute to the preparation of the audit plan, in coordination with the Audit Manager in charge.

The Lead Auditor is regularly trained on banking and regulatory matters and must have sufficient knowledge of the audited area. The person must complete all mandatory trainings within the defined timelines.

Knowledge and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, mathematics, or statistics.
  2. 4 to 8 years of experience in audit, with model auditing experience.
  3. Strong organization and efficiency with meeting deadlines.
  4. Project management skills.
  5. Verbal and written communication in English.
  6. Interpersonal skills.
  7. Autonomy and Leadership.
  8. Accuracy and reliability.
  9. Analytical skills.
  10. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of auditing and modeling.
  11. Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze facts, and prepare and present concise reports.
  12. Ability to lead a group or work as part of a group to accomplish shared goals.
