Health & Safety Specialist Location: Winnipeg, MB (close to the manufacturing facility). One of our clients is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to oversee and manage their health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the facility’s Health & Safety Program, ensuring full compliance with all applicable Workplace Safety & Health regulations and company standards. Oversee the Plant Protection Department, including first aid teams and emergency response operations, to maintain a safe and prepared work environment. Plan and coordinate regular safety audits, workplace inspections, and employee training programs such as First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and Made Safe certifications. Take a leadership role in incident investigations, risk assessments, and the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions. Act as the primary liaison for fire protection systems, insurance inspections, and interactions with government safety and regulatory bodies. Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive safety orientations and training sessions for all employees, contractors, and new hires. Partner with plant leadership to provide clear communication, reporting, and coaching that supports a strong safety culture and continuous improvement in health and safety performance. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial environment with a focus on occupational health, safety, and loss prevention. Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing or pulp and paper operation will be considered an asset. Excellent communication, organizational, and coaching abilities to effectively influence safety culture across all levels of the organization. Demonstrated capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while making sound, timely decisions in high-pressure situations. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
