OverviewThe Town of Sudbury is currently accepting applications for the position of Executive Assistant to the Town Manager. In this important role, you will be at the center of the Town’s operations, providing a high level of administrative support to our chief executive, and working collaboratively with our dynamic Select Board Office team on a wide variety of tasks and projects. You will serve as the lead administrative staff member for the Town Manager and Select Board (the Town’s primary policy-making body), and supervise one clerical staff member. Major responsibilities include: developing and maintaining the bi-weekly Select Board agenda, supervising preparations for Annual and Special Town Meetings, and producing a wide range of written material, including correspondence, memoranda, reports, grant applications, bid advertisements, licenses, permits, meeting notices and minutes, requiring strong writing skills and attention to detail.ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and maintaining the bi-weekly Select Board agenda, supervising preparations for Annual and Special Town Meetings, and producing a wide range of written material, including correspondence, memoranda, reports, grant applications, bid advertisements, licenses, permits, meeting notices and minutes, requiring strong writing skills and attention to detail.The job duties also include typical Executive Assistant functions such as scheduling meetings and appointments, receiving/screening visitors, calls, email and mail, and responding to questions and communications that do not require the Town Manager’s personal attention.This role involves frequent contact with other Town departments, elected officials, residents and others on matters that are often complex, sensitive and/or confidential. Excellent communications skills are required, including considerable patience, courtesy, discretion and tact.QualificationsTypical qualifications for this position include an Associate’s degree or two years of post-high school training in business, administrative support or related field; and five years of experience in general clerical/administrative work, but any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Preferred qualifications include an undergraduate degree and/or municipal experience. Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, is required.Compensation and BenefitsThe anticipated hiring range for this position is $79,218 – $88,886 with max to $104,191 (40 hours per week). Starting salary is based on qualifications. The Town currently utilizes a predetermined step system for annual pay increases.
