Heavy Duty Mechanic (3rd year apprentice or Journeyman) Fort Garry Industries is Canada's most trusted truck and trailer parts, sales and service provider. Responsibilities Repair and replace hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components Perform incidental welding operations on steel and/or aluminum equipment Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment and perform required mechanical repairs Perform repairs & preventative maintenance services on heavy/medium trucks and trailers Diagnose & troubleshoot mechanical & electrical failures Ensure documentation is complete and accurate. Uphold and embody FGI Customer Service Standards and Core Values with customers, colleagues and stakeholders Champion FGI's safety culture by performing all duties within established procedures and practices Other duties as assigned Qualifications 3rd year heavy duty mechanic apprentice required. Journeyman preferred. Must be able to meet the physical requirements: lift up to 75 lbs, able to work while kneeling/squatting and crouching, work at varying heights and enclosed areas Previous welding experience an asset Demonstrated understanding of highway truck and automotive wiring Install experience for plow, sanders, dump boxes etc. as asset Excellent Customer Service skills – dedicated to exceeding expectations of internal and external customers. Strong written and verbal skills – ability to write and speak succinctly with customers and colleagues. Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (email, word, excel) and ability to learn in-house systems.
