Executive Director, Parkwood Seniors Community

Parkwood Seniors Community is seeking an Executive Director.


Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Director provides oversight to Long Term Care (96-beds), Retirement Suites (78), Independent Apartments (90+), Independent Garden Homes (18) along with Supportive Housing, Home & Community Support Services and soon a Seniors Active Living Centre. The organization is seeking a passionate leader with excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills. Strong leadership skills are required to mentor, coach and build excellent relationships with staff, residents and families. A knowledge base of all aspects of senior living with an ability to take initiative without waiting for direction is an asset.


Areas of Responsibility
  1. Recruitment, orientation and performance of key staff and foster efficient performance and good staff morale.
  2. Provide leadership and direct supervision to nursing, food services, environmental, programs, housing and finance.
  3. Build relationships and foster stability among staff, residents, families, volunteers, contract service providers and the community.
  4. Assume leadership and supervision of day-to-day operations of the campus of care.
  5. Participate in the development of policies and procedures.
  6. Participate in the development of budgets and capital planning.
  7. Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and government bodies.
  8. Participate in Board strategic planning; developing operational objectives to carry out plan.
  9. Promote and educate all in diversity, equity and inclusion practices through our Kindness Initiative.

Qualifications
  1. Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in Senior Living.
  2. Minimum of a 3-year degree or 2-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  3. Completed or enrolled in a long-term care administration management course that is a minimum of 100 hours of instruction time.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of MOHLTC regulations.
  5. Experience in labour relations, fiscal management, strategic planning and risk management.

In accordance with our Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check, including a vulnerable sector search, and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate. The organization requires that all staff, volunteers, students, agency and 3rd party contractors (who have direct contact with residents and team members) to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination. This policy does not apply to those individuals who provide written proof of a valid medical contraindication to receiving the COVID vaccine, along with the effective time period for the medical contraindication.
