The OT in Mental Health Services will participate in multidisciplinary rounds and discharge planning as well as liaising with community agencies for services required post discharge. The OT will lead or participate in psycho educational groups with other professions for patients on the inpatient unit as well as those in the Day Hospital. The successful incumbent must have experience working with a psychiatric population. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.One (1) full-time contract occupational therapy position to work Monday through Friday.Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.Skills and Qualifications:Successful completion of secondary school requiredCandidates must be an Ontario-registered OT and belong to the College of Occupational Therapists (COTO)Baccalaureate degree is essential; Master’s degree preferredExperience in OT assessments required; combination of hospital-based and community based assessment experience a strong assetExperience providing occupational therapy to mental health patientsAbility to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and community-based resourcesMust be able to work in a collaborative team model that includes the patient, family, and other care giversOrganizational skills and the ability to work independently are necessaryKeyboarding and Meditech knowledge would be a definite assetDemonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is requiredAs part of our commitment to the health and safety of our patients, staff and community from COVID-19, subject to any accommodation required by applicable human rights legislation, Cambridge Memorial Hospital requires that all staff have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation.
