Temporary position for 12 months.

As a Senior Legal Affairs Advisor, you help protect the organization’s legal interests by ensuring compliance with all laws. You play a key role in protecting rights and meeting obligations. You represent the organization in situations involving its legal interests and may be responsible for sub-specialties such as contested matters and the Office of the Corporate Secretary (ethics and professional conduct, official registries, meeting minutes, the general meeting, etc.). You lead complex and innovative development projects and strategic initiatives requiring extensive knowledge of your specialty area.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading specialized development projects, initiatives, and activities that significantly impact the entire organization.
  • Advising clients and partners to help position, plan, develop, execute, and monitor strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and diagnosing major issues and making recommendations to decision-making bodies.
  • Interpreting laws and regulations, issuing legal opinions, and preparing and validating rules, standards, policies, procedures, forms, and agreements affecting the organization.
  • Representing the organization in court, developing strategy, drafting pleadings, preparing witnesses, delivering oral arguments, and negotiating the best possible terms on complex matters.
  • Developing and updating policies, standards, models, and programs to support your unit’s strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Representing your unit before decision-making bodies.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of six years of relevant experience.
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of French is required.
