Job Title: Analyst – Meter Data Management Organization: Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Location: Mississauga, Ontario Date Posted: November 12, 2025 Requisition ID: 20703 Status: Temporary Business Unit: Markets and Reliability About the IESO The IESO is responsible for managing Ontario’s power grid in real time, overseeing and evolving the electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and planning for the province’s future electricity needs. Role Summary As a Meter Data Management Analyst, you will support data accuracy, compliance, and operational processes related to metering and settlement activities. You will also contribute to improving systems and processes to strengthen the IESO’s metering framework. Responsibilities Assist in the development, maintenance, and improvement of processes, systems, policies, and standards for meter data management. Review existing meter data management processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvement initiatives. Provide technical and analytical support, including training, to internal and external customers. Manage the metering database and metering registry to produce settlement‑ready delivery point data: Process meter data and perform the Data Validation, Estimation, and Editing (VEE) process. Review and analyze exception reports from meter data systems and resolve anomalies. Oversee the Meter Trouble Report (MTR) process, issue MTRs, and liaise with Meter Service Providers (MSPs) to resolve issues. Manage meter registration activities, facilitate testing of new meter installations, and maintain existing meters. Monitor MSP performance measures, investigate non‑compliance, and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate the Demand Response (DR) Program measurement data submissions and conduct DR audits. Support various audits related to Metering Installation, Records, and Procedures. Review Notice of Disagreements (NODs) and disputes, analyze measurement data, and provide support to Market Settlements. Collect and reconcile measurement data from interconnections to support settlement processes. Develop and deliver training packages on work methods, technology, techniques, and market rules. Perform additional duties as required. Typical Day Validate metering data through the VEE process and resolve anomalies. Coordinate with MSPs on ITRs, meter registration, and compliance with market rules. Provide analytical support and investigate inquiries or disputes. Maintain metering systems, settlement calendars, and DR program submissions. Contribute to process improvements and deliver training on market rules. Qualifications Education: Knowledge of electrical theory, power systems, metering, data processing, and statistics. Ability to read single‑line diagrams and voltage readings. Strong written and oral communication skills. Typically requires Grade XII plus college diploma (e.g., electrical engineering technology) or a four‑year university degree. Experience: Familiarity with system and market operations, applicable market rules, and regulations related to metering. Understanding of metering systems, regulatory requirements, installation field practices, and loss adjustment methodologies. Experience with statistical and database software, data manipulation tools, and desktop applications. Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate technical matters.
