The Competition Bureau is looking for dynamic, intellectually curious and creative people who thrive in a team environment. Your duties as a competition law officer may include:

  1. Conducting research and analysis on potential competition issues;
  2. Conducting interviews with senior business people;
  3. Conducting online investigations;
  4. In some cases, conducting economic analysis;
  5. In some cases, supporting the Bureau’s litigation before the courts;
  6. Briefing and making recommendations to senior management.

The CO-01 level is a training level in preparation for advancement to the CO-02 working level for Competition Law Officers (CO-02 salary from $79,516 to $113,222). ISED is transitioning to a hybrid work environment to leverage the best of both in-person and virtual work to deliver results. To foster a dynamic environment for purposeful in-person connections, most employees will be working part time at their designated ISED worksite on a weekly basis, and the remainder of the time from their telework location. Generally, employees in a hybrid job can anticipate working from their designated ISED location three days per week.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada with various language requirements (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, English Essential or English or French Essential), various security requirements (Reliability or Secret) and various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment)./>- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to provide analysis based on complex information.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
- One or more university courses in industrial organization.
