Architectural Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to join our team at Rossmann Architecture Inc. as a Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing plans and specifications in compliance with applicable laws, standards, and building codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend inspections and surveys to confirm conditions, conduct field reports, and building analysis.
• Prepare reports, plans, and technical documents, including business cases, construction details, and working drawings.
• Conduct reviews of by-law, zoning requirements, and building code regulations on a per-project basis for conformance with OBC, QBC, and/or NBC.
• Prepare cost estimates at various stages of projects with varying degrees of accuracy based on project history, current construction conditions, and the use of estimation technology.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and varying disciplines for cohesion across plans.
• Attend meetings and provide coordination with stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to junior team members as needed.
• Review shop drawings and site instructions.

Requirements:

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is an asset but not required.
• In-depth understanding of AutoCAD and Revit are required. SketchUp, MS Office Suite, and Adobe Suite will be considered an asset.
• Must have a thorough understanding of current and relevant codes and regulations (QBC, OBC, NBC, municipal by-laws).
• Having a membership or being interested in a membership with OTPQ, OACETT, OAAAS, etc. is an asset but not required.
• Driving license (Class 5) – ability to travel without restriction is required for the attendance of site inspections.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Organization and time management skills for the prioritization of deliverables when managing multiple projects.
• Existing government clearance is considered an asset.

Education and Experience:

• Diploma in architectural technology or a technical diploma in architectural drafting from a known Canadian college.
• Minimum five years of experience in an architecture firm.
• Experience in project administration is an asset, including estimations, procurement, and construction contract administration.

Compensation:

• Full-time, on-site, permanent, 40h/week.
• Salary: $60,000 - $90,000.
• Benefits (group insurance and pension fund).
• Three weeks of paid vacation per year.
• Additional statutory holidays (QC/ON).
