About Mount Milligan Mine Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck‑shovel open‑pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant. Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi‑Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region. Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol‑free workplace with a zero‑tolerance policy. About the Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for a Superintendent, Mine Maintenance (Shovel and Drill) to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site. This role operates on a rotation of 4 days on / 3 days off at a 10‑hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining the operational integrity and reliability of the mine’s shovel and drill fleet. Safety & Environment Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring strict adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Lead by example in identifying, assessing and mitigating risks associated with heavy equipment maintenance. Conduct incident investigations, implement corrective actions and promote continuous improvement in safety performance. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with environmental standards and company policies. Leadership & Management Lead, mentor and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, planners and skilled tradespersons. Foster a collaborative and high‑performance work environment. Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback and identify training and development opportunities. Manage shift rotations, staffing levels and resource allocation to optimise productivity. Maintenance Planning & Execution Develop, implement and continually optimise maintenance strategies for shovels, drills and support equipment. Oversee the planning, scheduling and execution of routine maintenance, major component replacements, rebuilds and breakdown repairs. Collaborate closely with Mine Operations and Supply Chain teams. Utilise and optimise CMMS (e.g., SAP) for work order management, asset tracking and data analysis. Monitor KPIs such as equipment availability and backlog, implementing corrective actions as needed. Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting Provide expert technical guidance and support for complex diagnostics and troubleshooting of shovel and drill systems. Stay abreast of OEM specifications, industry best practices and new technologies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce operating costs. Cost Control & Budget Management Develop, manage and adhere to departmental operating and capital budgets. Identify opportunities for cost savings through optimised maintenance practices and strategic procurement. Manage contractor services effectively when external support is required. Reporting & Communication Prepare and present accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports on maintenance performance, budget adherence and safety statistics. Maintain clear and effective communication with direct reports, peer superintendents and senior management. About You Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; a relevant trade qualification combined with extensive experience will also be considered. Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role within an open‑pit mining environment. Demonstrated expertise in maintenance of large‑scale open‑pit shovels (e.g. P&H, Komatsu, Caterpillar) and blasthole drills (e.g. Epiroc, Sandvik). Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and power‑train systems relevant to heavy mining equipment. Proven experience with CMMS and strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite. Solid understanding of asset management principles, predictive maintenance technologies and continuous improvement methodologies. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent. Relevant safety certifications and knowledge of Canadian mining regulations. Working Conditions Camp‑based role at Mount Milligan Mine site with a 4x3 shift schedule, 10 hours per day. Candidates must maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts up to 10 hours. Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with requirement of wearing PPE. Safety‑sensitive environment; zero‑tolerance for drugs or alcohol. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie.
