p>Position Summary:
The Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine (Faculty), University of Ottawa (uOttawa) and The Ottawa Hospital (TOH/Hospital) is looking for a visionary leader with excellence in academic and clinical leadership to be its next Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases.
The Division Head is accountable to the Chair/Head of the Department of Medicine in fulfilling the mission, vision and goals of the Department, the Hospital and the Faculty, in particular as they relate to the Division. The Division Head holds a joint appointment as the Chair of the Division (academics) and the Head of the Division (clinical services). Members of the Division of Infectious Diseases specialize in linked clinical laboratory research in HIV, hepatitis C, antibiotic resistance, immunocompromised hosts, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and clinical trials of therapeutic agents, infection control, and global health. Members are recognized internationally for their contributions to medical research and education and for providing exceptional patient care in specialized subspecialty clinics.

The Division Head and the administrative lead work in partnership with shared accountability to ensure TOH’s vision, mission, and goals are being met. The dyad is responsible for strategic planning, overall performance, engagement, quality, operations, budget, capital, and service planning. This leadership dyad works together to drive clinical and organization excellence, reduce silos, increase transparency, and improve accountability for performance and outcomes at the division level.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated academic and clinical leadership as well as strong organizational skills and have achieved the University rank of Associate or Full Professor. The vision for Infectious Diseases must include a strong commitment to build on the current academic successes including post-graduate education. be eligible for membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association; p>

The University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital are bilingual institutions and, therefore, in the case of potentially successful candidates of equal ability, a bilingual (French/English) candidate would be preferred.

Additional Information:
The successful candidate will be part of one of the largest academic Infectious Diseases divisions in Canada and will join a dynamic and productive group of 25+ physicians who participate in clinical, educational and research activities. Clinical services offered by the Division include HIV, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, immune deficiency, general infectious diseases, outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT), and tropical medicine. p>

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute, and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). p>

Ground-breaking medical research is conducted through The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI) and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. p>
