The forensic program uses a Psychosocial Recovery model as a theoretical approach for patient interactions. This position will be based in the Forensic Library. As we work to ensure our patients\' recreation/leisure needs are being met, we will be expanding our centralized programs to include Library specific activities. The incumbent will support the basic functions of the forensic library, as well as develop and support activities for all patients to attend that are leisure, educational, and informational. This position will also support community groups using the forensic library space for therapeutic groups.Essential QualificationsKnowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSAUniversity Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic Recreation focus or University Degree in Human Sciences or Services with a Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic RecreationCurrent membership with Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (TRO)Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, and implement a personalized approach to service delivery within the guidelines of the Therapeutic Recreation Service Delivery Model in accordance with TRO standards of practiceKnowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislationKnowledge, skills and recent experience in providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with serious mental illnessDemonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying the principles of psychosocial rehabilitationKnowledge of psychotropic medications, symptom management and their impact in providing therapeutic recreation interventionsIn-depth knowledge of major mental illness from a biopsychosocial perspectiveExperience in crisis interventionExperience in the development of teaching materials and the teaching of patients, family and caregiversMust be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team memberExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsProficiency in French would be an assetMinimum of 2 years\' experience as a therapeutic recreation professionalExperience in mental healthExperience in library servicesTeaching and ResearchSt Joseph\'s Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital.
