From roads to rail, airports to ports, we build some of the most important projects that connect our communities.Backed by our network of Colas companies across Canada and the Colas Group worldwide, Colas offers a wide range of innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.Join the largest transportation infrastructure group in the world and help connect Canada.MissionJoin us in an exciting adventure to complete the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT - a remarkable legacy project that will redefine our community’s transportation landscape Be part of this transformative journey and help us create a lasting impact for generations to comeWe are looking for a self-motivated and dedicated Document Controller to perform a variety of functions related to document control, including coordinating the flow of documents between project operations, engineering disciplines, construction team, other department groups and subcontractors as required.Main ResponsibilitiesProcesses one or more document types through all procedural steps in accordance with well-defined procedures and guidelines.Ensures that pre-established document control requirements (e.g., which document numbering system will be used; how many and which signatures will be required for certain approvals, etc.) are satisfactorily met throughout the duration of the project.Receives, tracks, and monitors documents using standard document management programs to register documents, maintain databases, and produces logs, transmittals, and other reports as required.Enter data and produces reports using other standard office automation or department-specific computer applications.Scans documents for electronic storage.Maintains an established data distribution system and schedule for the assigned project based upon client, project, department, and supplier requirements.Expedites review, signature approval, and release of supplier and internally produced documents.Understands the Construction Turnover process, and track compilation of Quality and Construction Records as per the pre-approved table of content for each package.Assists project team members to ensure effective implementations of project-specific procedures.Contributes as a team player who is deadline-driven and works well with others.Performs other duties commensurate with functional level and responsibilities.RequirementsHigh school diploma (or equivalent) and minimum of 4+ years of relevant document control experience, preferably on large scale construction and/or industrial projects.Must have knowledge of both the work processes of document control and the use of electronic systems used to manage documentation.Skills, Competencies, AttributesStrong capacity to process high volume of documents within a tight turnaround time frame.Strong capacity to pay attention to details in a fast-paced work environment.Excellent abilities to understand, apply and enforce established procedures and requirements.Proficient keyboard skills and a working knowledge of MS Windows and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software is required.Assignments will require a working knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems.Good written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with project personnel and managementAbility to negotiate the terrain of an in-process construction site, including climbing stairs and ladders, steep/ slippery terrain, walking, and working outdoors in all types of Edmonton weather and conditions.DIVERSITY IS IMPORTANT TO USAt Colas, we believe our workforce should reflect the diversity of the communities we connect.
