The Position

Our Edmonton headquartered client is seeking a Sr. Business Analytics Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Information Management & Technology, you will be the go-to expert for data visualization and storytelling. You will collaborate across all portfolios to provide consultative support by assisting in the development of effective narratives that provide actionable recommendations aligned with business objectives. You will oversee the technology and compliance aspects of the instruments used in the business and ensure that all components are completed within relevant timeframes for assessments and planning of all varieties.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain knowledge of external standards that are relevant to the organization’s business.
  • Support portfolios in the monitoring of key performance indicators and departmental strategies for improving informatics management, quality, and delivery of services.
  • Ensure databased and organizational and portfolio dashboard applications are updated and maintained.
  • Oversee the development of reports for Head Office, Regional Offices and site-based groups/committees/teams.
  • Ensure that appropriate information is provided to external research groups in compliance with all policies and standards.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on multiple projects from requirements gathering to implementation for storytelling and the proper usage of information graphics.
  • Partner with portfolios to turn abstract information from data analyses into appealing and understandable presentations and scorecards that improve business insights.
  • Suggest and build both static and interactive data presentations and novel ways of telling stories.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business and strategic needs by building strong cross departmental relationships.
  • Participate in the design of internal storytelling presentation materials for all levels of the organization including executive team and the Board.
  • Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts (in collaboration with Communications), when necessary.
  • Visualize and articulate complex information into understandable and audience appropriate format including, but not limited to, pitch decks, quarterly updates, on-pagers, and infographics.
  • Lead creative discussions/critiques and obtain buy in from stakeholders.
  • Influence, coach and provide guidance and mentorship to team in all aspects of the analytical lifecycle and use of analytics for business decision making.

Mandatories

  • B.Sc. in Computing Science or equivalent (focused on quantitative analysis). Equivalencies in education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years experience in analytics. This experience within Healthcare is a definite asset.
  • Project Management experience as it relates to analytics projects. PMP designation is an asset.
  • Strong business analysis and development experience.
  • Experience in development and administration of MS SQL Server and relevant programming technologies.
  • Experience with integration and migration of data between business systems and databases using SQL Stored Procedures or DTS Packages.
  • Solid experience with Power BI and/or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and document business processes.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner.
    • Adept at written and oral communication with internal teams, stakeholders and third-party providers.
    • Excellent active listening skills
      • Demonstrate flexibility by changing routine to accommodate client needs.
      • Accept, implement, and evaluate change with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate non-technical business needs into technical solutions with defined processes.
  • Ability to write specification documents and communicate software problems and change requests to software vendors and application developers.
  • Exhibit an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally fast-paced environment.
  • ITIL foundation level certification.
  • COBIT ISO/IEC 20000 experience preferred.
