Job Description:

Job Summary

The Senior Analyst, Transportation Strategy is responsible for identifying and leading initiatives to improve transportation efficiency. This role is responsible for connecting TMS capabilities with efficiency opportunities, leading the conversion of vendors to collect freight terms, leading freight carrier relationships and RFPs, analyzing data for negotiations, tracking project statuses, and monitoring savings targets. This role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, collaboration with internal teams, and experience in freight vendor and carrier negotiations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management and Negotiation

  • Lead and manage the initiative to transition vendors from prepaid to collect terms
  • Facilitate negotiations with vendors to ensure successful term transitions
  • Lead rate negotiations with freight vendors

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Perform detailed data analysis to track and report costs associated with transportation initiatives
  • Develop and maintain reports to communicate cost tracking and project progress to stakeholders

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the merchandising team and other internal departments to ensure alignment to goals
  • Collaborate with business leaders to gather and document business requirements and translate them into actionable plans

Transportation Management System (TMS)

  • Act as the business expert for the capabilities of the TMS, focusing on leveraging TMS tools to drive strategic business initiatives
  • Utilize the TMS to enable opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and strategic initiatives

Vendor and Carrier Negotiations

  • Handle ongoing negotiations with freight vendors and carriers, including rate updates and the execution of RFPs
  • Ensure competitive rates and terms are secured to optimize transportation costs

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all RFP and project inquiries
  • Communicate statuses, performance results, and insights to stakeholders, including senior management

Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in supply chain/logistics activities
  • Experience with TMS, WMS, optimization tools, or network modeling preferred
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience leading and participating in negotiations with external merch and non-merch vendors
