The Opportunity:

MCW is currently looking for a self-motivated Senior Electrical Designer to join our Winnipeg office. This position plays a key role in design documentation and project management of electrical engineering projects of various sizes and complexity in education, institutional, recreational, multi-family residential, commercial, health care spaces, and industrial buildings to deliver energy-saving, safe, and cost-effective solutions to clients. The Senior Electrical Designer will play a key role in the delivery of successful projects and will require strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. In addition to engineering design, you will be called upon to contribute to proposals, resource planning, quality assurance, and technical review of many projects within the MCW Group of Companies. p>

Position: Senior Electrical Designer

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical design of building systems, including lighting, power distribution, life safety, standby power, fire alarm, electronic safety and security, and communications systems.
  • Create and design construction documentation for healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and institutional projects, in collaboration with production staff and junior designers.
  • Coordinating with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness.
  • Oversight of quality assurance and timely delivery of finished products to clients.
  • Reviewing architectural, interior designs, and structural drawings.
  • Working with contractors and responding to technical inquiries.
  • Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the project.
  • Helping to establish, maintain, and promote client relationships.

Qualifications, Experience and Education:

  • College Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent certification with specialization in electrical systems is an asset.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in designing building electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes and National Codes of Canada.
  • Proficiency in developing construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in project management and leadership of small teams.
  • Highly effective communication skills both verbally and in writing in order to relay complex ideas to other technical professionals and non-technical people.
