We are assisting a reputable company in the oil and gas industry with their search for an HSE Advisor to join their team on a full-time basis. Based in Grande Prairie, the position involves travel to various operational sites. The role offers an excellent opportunity for a health, safety, and environment (HSE) professional to make a meaningful impact by supporting the company’s safety initiatives across multiple projects.
The HSE Advisor will be responsible for ensuring that health, safety, and environmental policies and programs are consistently applied across field operations and projects. Reporting to senior management, the advisor will collaborate closely with field teams, supervisors, and leadership to provide guidance on regulatory compliance, risk management, and best practices. The role includes conducting safety audits, evaluating worksites, and implementing HSE policies and procedures.
In addition, the HSE Advisor will lead investigations into incidents and near-misses, ensuring that root causes are identified and corrective actions are put in place to prevent future occurrences. The role requires a proactive approach to keeping abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends to ensure that the company remains compliant with all relevant safety standards. Strong communication skills will be essential, as the advisor will work closely with both internal teams and external contractors to ensure that everyone understands and follows the company’s HSE expectations.
Candidates for this position should have experience in the oil and gas sector, with a background in facility construction, production, or drilling operations. They must have a strong understanding of health and safety regulations, combined with experience in safety audits, investigations, and reporting. The ability to coach and mentor field personnel on safety awareness and risk management is crucial, as is the capacity to adapt and thrive in both office and field environments.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 3-5 years in an HSE advisory capacity. Professional safety certifications, such as CRSP or NCSO, are highly preferred, and candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This position will require regular travel to field locations, and flexibility with working weekends or holidays may be needed.
This is a compelling opportunity for an HSE professional looking to drive safety improvements and contribute to the overall success of a respected company in the oil and gas sector. If you are passionate about safety, have strong communication skills, and are eager to take on a new challenge, we encourage you to apply.
