The Ministry of Trade and Export Development, Corporate Services Branch is seeking a proactive, organized, and resourceful team player to join our team as our Planning and Performance Consultant. You will support Ministry leadership and individual Branches and Divisions through the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing renewal of strategic planning and reporting processes. You will also lead program reviews, continuous improvement and large corporate projects, support the Ministry's Safety file, and regulatory modernization initiatives.

The ideal candidate is expected to have knowledge of:

  1. qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to analyze trends, conduct program reviews and environmental scans;
  2. project management methods, principles, processes and tools;
  3. government structures and government planning processes and cycles;
  4. performance measures and accountability frameworks;
  5. continuous improvement approaches; and,
  6. applicable computer hardware and software applications (e.g., Excel and visualization tools such as MS Visio).

To be successful in this position, you will possess:

  1. experience in leading strategic planning, reporting, performance measurement and program evaluation;
  2. strong facilitation skills and ability to build effective relationships;
  3. knowledge of government planning, reporting, public policy development and decision-making processes;
  4. strong written and verbal communication skills;
  5. skills to identify, anticipate, research, and analyze trends and issues to understand their impact on trade and export goals and strategies; and,
  6. the ability to facilitate discussions and articulate complex issues to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be acquired through completion of a university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Social Science or a related field and experience in strategic planning, public sector, and delivery of projects.
