Senior Vice-President (SVP), Operations, Retail provides leadership to the operational services for Personal & Business Banking and Retail Credit Adjudication that enables CIBC to operate efficiently as a leading Canadian Financial Institution and at the same time mitigates risks using appropriate controls to meet CIBC’s compliance and security standards. The SVP is responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of the team including development of CIBC’s operational capability through transformation and enhancement of related technology and workforce.

The SVP also leads in the development of payment strategies and programs that will deliver on CIBC’s brand promise. These include innovations affecting existing payments activities and initiatives focused on modernizing our payment capability. p>

Payments Services & Estates: accountable for leading and managing all activities in Cheque, Cash, Payments and Estates functions.

Retail Operations: the team provides centralized processing support for CIBC Personal and Business Banking, Internet Banking, Telephone Banking, Simplii and Corporate Real Estate. The activities performed include fulfillment, transaction processing, and servicing for all retail products and channels. This also includes suspense account management and investigations, loss reporting, verification and reporting activities, payment fulfillment, transaction processing, notice processing and third party demands.

Retail Credit Adjudication: the team is responsible for manual credit decisions for Personal Lending, providing overall leadership and direction for Retail Lending underwriting across all brands and channels. This function also directs the development, implementation and assessment of adjudication activities consistent with CIBC Risk Management framework.

  • Work in partnership across all areas of our bank to identify and deliver innovative payment strategies that add value for our clients and drive growth.

  • Establish and maintain stakeholder, client and executive management relationships to effectively influence strategic priorities, facilitate decision making and ensure successful implementation of the specific project.

  • Manage high impact and multi-year projects with an overall objective to increase CIBC’s share of market, increase the acquisition of external clients and continuously improve client satisfaction and client loyalty.

  • Seek approval for major strategic initiatives (NIAP, Business Case Policy) ensuring full understanding of the risk and benefits of each new major initiative and that any inter-relationships and risks are identified so informed decisions can be made.

  • Establish and maintain government, payments Canada, CBA, Interac, internal stakeholder, client, and executive management relationships to effectively influence strategic priorities (both inside CIBC and in the Canadian payment ecosystem), facilitate decision making and ensure successful implementation of the transformative programs.

  • Oversee relevant privacy and regulatory requirements as it relates to the technology implementation and process development.

  • Manage business partner expectations and promote business partner ownership of issues, processes and strategies (i.e. set objectives, influencing business partner to reach optimal solution, etc.).

  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills to convey and interpret complex conceptual information.
