The Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Political Philosophy, beginning July 1, 2024.
Duties:
- Maintain and develop a research program in political philosophy, preferably with a component in applied political philosophy, resulting in scholarly publication and research grants.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in political philosophy in both French and English.
- Recruit and train graduate students.
- Work collaboratively in research and university service.
- Participate in administrative activities of the department and service to the broader university community.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will be a scholar in Political Philosophy, with the following:
- A demonstrated track record of scholarly excellence in political philosophy;
- Evidence to support the establishment of an innovative research program, including a record of refereed publications and scholarly conferences;
- A demonstrated ability or concrete plan to attract external funding;
- Evidence of teaching experience or training at the university level;
- A commitment to teaching and graduate training in our Department’s programs;
- A commitment to principles related to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of research and teaching;
- Active bilingualism in French and English at the time of hiring;
- The ability to teach in French at the time of hiring.
