Manager, Legal Services (Corporate/Commercial) Join to apply for the Manager, Legal Services (Corporate/Commercial) role at WorkSafeBC. This critical role seeks a lawyer who excels at drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts while providing advice to internal departments to reduce legal risks. How you’ll make a difference You’ll ensure WorkSafeBC serves stakeholders across B.C. effectively by delivering corporate/commercial legal advice to internal clients, including health care departments. Where you’ll work We offer a hybrid work model. You will primarily work from our Richmond Office, at least three days per week, with flexibility to work from home in B.C. Key responsibilities Carry your own file load to deliver corporate/commercial legal advice to internal clients, including health care departments. Manage corporate counsel and/or articling students. Collaborate with internal clients and departments to provide legal solutions that meet WorkSafeBC’s needs. Work with client groups, including Procurement Services, to continuously improve service delivery. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation in commercial contracts. Consistently model the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward‑thinking. We’re looking for someone who Is trusted to provide practical, timely legal advice with options for internal clients to achieve their desired outcome. Demonstrates leadership, planning skills, and explains legal information in plain language, adapting communication style to suit the audience. Collaborates with colleagues and stakeholders while exercising sound judgment and independence. Constantly strives to grow and develop as a lawyer. Takes an outcome‑oriented, problem‑solving approach with clients and team members. Interacts with management, peers, and clients in a confident, professional, and objective manner. Your background and experience Minimum of 5 years practicing corporate commercial law. Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia. Experience with public procurement and/or health care contracts is an asset. We’ll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience. Important to know Consent to a criminal record check.
