Status of Employment: Contractee Long-Term (Fixed Term)

This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Your role:

The Senior Manager, Strategic Supply Management is a key member of the Supply Management sourcing team, reporting to the Senior Director Sourcing – Supply Management. This role involves working collaboratively with components, management teams across our business, and external third parties.

You will show leadership and initiative to aim and attain departmental objectives with impact for its sourcing activities and the value it generates to benefit CBC. You will lead contract activities strategically and document them on a day-to-day basis, in line with the global strategic plan, while maintaining healthy relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and Functional Experts within the organization. You will act as a subject matter expert in procurement and assist the team and your peers in various projects.

A key requirement will be the ability to demonstrate experience in managing and leading Sourcing Events from end to end while interacting with various Functional Experts (e.g., Legal, Information Security, Privacy, Sustainability) triggered by the complexity of the Scope Requirements. You will work in a collaborative environment to create the appropriate RFP package through negotiating the Functional Expert requirements along with the Business Requirements into the deal/contract.

Having a depth of experience that allows the candidate to hit the ground running and pick up various projects at different stages of the Procurement 7-step Process will be key to success in this opportunity.

Main responsibilities:

  • Bring and develop innovative tactics to support strategies.
  • Contribute to the transformation and enhance the tools while working as a team to regularly deliver on ambitious savings targets.
  • Lead activities on category strategies and associated plans, ensuring compliance with governance regulations (CFTA; conflict of interests; etc.).
  • Operate as a best-in-class vendor management team, including supplier performance management and feedback as well as commercial contract management.
  • Build relationships and partner effectively in a collaborative manner with internal business units.
  • Maintain and foster an effective demand management pipeline by planning yearly & quarterly workload.
  • Act as a change agent in efforts to redefine, transform, and influence rules of engagement with Components.
  • Focus on value creation through savings, cost avoidance, operational efficiencies, and increased value for money.
  • Proactively increase spend under management by identifying additional value creation opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of internal dashboards, benchmarks, and scorecards as required.
  • Ensure state-of-the-art quality of service from suppliers.
  • Align sourcing function with corporate expectations (SLAs; key KPIs) while adhering to and reinforcing corporate policies.
  • Lead RFx sourcing projects as required, including Reverse auction and public tendering.
  • Oversee compliance of corporate contracts by business units.
  • Manage complex and high visibility files.
  • No direct reports at this time; however, the role may be required to manage personnel.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally MBA or Master's in a related field, preferred.
  • 10 years+ sourcing experience.
  • SCMA (PMAC) certification (SCMP or CPP) or equivalent, an asset.
  • Experience in strategic sourcing and procurement.
  • General knowledge in Information Technology and technology terminology to effectively manage contracting/negotiations/RFP drafting.
  • Good system and process optimization experience with a proven track record.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Self-starter, self-motivator, and resourceful.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Team player at his/her level to collaborate with components.
  • General business skills, business acumen, and negotiation savvy.
  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting (e.g., terms of budgeting, cost management, risk management, etc.).
  • Ability to understand the Corporation culture and communicate procurement’s value internally and externally.
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles, 7-step process, and best practices.
  • Strategic mindset and problem-solving skills.
  • Change management experience & skills.
  • Bilingualism is a preferred asset.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion, mostly between Toronto and Montreal.
  • Familiarity with various software packages, ERP software, preferably SAP, in delivering corporate reports and projects would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Crown Corporations and government agencies would be considered an asset.
