Join to apply for the Specialist, Operations - Tax Operations role at RBC What is the opportunity? As a Specialist, Operations, Tax Operations, you will assist with clients’ year-end tax reporting requirements for Canadian tax authorities (CRA/RQ). This role specializes in registered tax reporting, including T4RIF, T4RSP, T4A, T4FHSA, TFSA, RL 1, RL 2, RL 32, and NR4 tax production. You will also execute and maintain withholding tax remittances and reconciliations with Canadian tax authorities. Your responsibilities include liaising with business partners and vendors to schedule, track, and perform user acceptance testing for regulatory and client experience enhancements for registered tax slips annually, escalating issues and risk elements as applicable. You will support and resolve complex client inquiries independently, seeking assistance as appropriate, following established department procedures. What will you do? Execute daily department oversight activities for complex exception-based processes to validate system processes are executing as designed. Run and analyze reports as required to resolve exceptions ensuring adherence to all regulatory and firm policy requirements. Liaise and provide customer service support for individuals requiring research, problem resolution, or securing information from other Operation’s departments, RBC Business Units, external customers or industry participants. Address escalated questions independently, seeking assistance from Manager or Senior Manager as appropriate following established department procedures. Perform regular data reconciliation between reports and CRA remittances. Investigate and resolve data variances, ensuring root cause analysis and documentation of findings. Maintain detailed logs of reconciliation results and follow-up actions. Reduce risk or increase efficiencies by suggesting process changes and system modifications. Participate in testing and implementation of enhancements and processes as required. Annual review and updating of department procedures. Provide accurate analysis and processing support for manual, exception-based, complex, and/or highly specialized processes within a specific Operation’s department. Accurately review, verify, and/or record data into technology supporting department processes. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. What do you need to succeed? Basic Qualifications: 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 3+ years of securities, banking, technology and/or job-specific industry experience 1+ year prior securities, banking, technology industry and/or job-specific related industry experience Proficient computer skills in Windows-based software products including Word, Excel and Access Experience with T4RIF, T4RSP, T4A, T4FHSA, TFSA, RL 1, RL 2, RL 32, NR4 tax production Experience with Tax Form Plus and Broadridge / BTS system Key Relationships Client Transaction and Registered Product/Middle Office representatives, Branches/Front Office, and internal Operations teams Various third-party vendors (BFS/ICS) Tax Advisory Support/Financial Advisory Support Regulatory bodies (Canada Revenue Agency/Revenu Quebec) Project teams (PMs, BAs) Other Required Qualifications Ability to effectively train, lead and provide work direction to others Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment Ability to understand and meet business daily support needs on an ongoing basis Ability to work independently and within a team environment Sound organizational knowledge with operational mindset; including products, processes, systems and regulatory and/or client needs Strong attention to detail and privacy/confidentiality Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management Strong problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception-based complex processes Nice to have Proficient in French Working Conditions Daytime, office environment with moderate meeting attendance required A fast-paced and agile working environment which may require quick turnaround and solid decision-making (critical/analytical thinking) Hours worked may surpass standard work week and include unscheduled evening/weekend work during peak tax season A confidential, secured working environment Position may involve a high degree of stress and pressure What’s in it for you?
