Overview Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer in Vancouver, British Columbia. The role focuses on leading projects with support from a Senior Engineer, delivering design for larger-scale or multi-disciplinary land development, municipal, and transportation projects for a growing client base. Projects may include complex features requiring mature knowledge and engineering judgment. The Stantec Community Development group serves private and public sector clients across British Columbia, with opportunities to collaborate with Canada West teams as needed. Your Opportunity The Civil Engineer will lead projects with support from a Senior Engineer, advancing design delivery for land development, municipal, and transportation projects. Projects may present complex features that require established engineering judgment. Your Key Responsibilities Perform civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs. Complete civil design for infill, greenfield, and brownfield land development, municipal and public space projects, and/or transportation-focused projects in support of Airports, Transit & Rail, or Ports & Marines teams. Lead small to medium scale projects. Review and prepare civil designs for site grading and site servicing including water distribution, sanitary sewers, stormwater management, shallow utilities, and erosion control design. Prepare due diligence reports and land reviews providing knowledge on overall servicing for potential land purchases for clients. Build and foster relationships with clients, municipal, and provincial approving authorities. Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior and design technical staff. Contribute to project coordination meetings with internal team members, external consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders. Complete field reviews during the construction administration phase of projects as necessary. Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews on projects. Assist in the development of new standards and processes for the design team. Contribute to the development of proposals and project scope and fees through a design-focused lens. Your Capabilities and Credentials Strong understanding of land development including site grading, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, water servicing, shallow utility coordination, roadway, and lot design, with a general understanding of stormwater engineering concepts. Experience in the province of British Columbia is strongly preferred. Understanding of the life cycle of land development projects from land review through permits, servicing agreements, tender, construction, and close-out. Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills. Solution-oriented problem solver. Ability to participate and collaborate in project teams, engaging in creative and critical thought. Experience in a flexible work environment, managing multiple projects, clients, and deliverables. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BlueBeam Revu. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer in good standing with EGBC. Minimum of 6 years of experience. Position will primarily work in an office setting. Some field work may be required and could include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Some roles are bonus eligible.
