Location: Trenton, NS. Type of Employment: Regular, Full‑Time - On‑site. Salary: $52.04 per hour. Closing Date: November 21, 2025. We are currently looking for an Instrumentation Technician &/or Industrial Electrician (Power Plant Technician II - Shift) as per Article 6.12 of the CA. The successful candidate will join our Power Production team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Controls Supervisor, you will be responsible for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration and installation of instrumentation and monitoring equipment throughout the generating station. Key Elements of This Role Ensure plant operates safely, per NSPI Operating Practices, Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations, and environmental stipulations. Stack climbing and repair work on equipment throughout the generating station and participation in specialized environmental testing routines. May be temporarily assigned to other locations and will be expected to travel throughout the province. Participate in regulatory training and be willing to participate in on‑job training or programs that support development of additional skills. Responsible for personal safety and that of co‑workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. Compliance with Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy, requiring a confidential pre‑employment test. Skills and Qualifications Must be a full‑time employee recognized as a PPTII (Instrument Technician & Industrial Electrician or Electrical Technician) or possess two of the following: one Instrumentation and one Electrical. Diploma in Instrumentation Controls Technology. Red Seal Journeyperson Instrumentation / Control Technician. Certificate as an Instrument Controls Technician from an accredited program. Red Seal Industrial Electrician. Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology. Minimum two years’ experience maintaining instrumentation and electrical equipment in a generating station or similar industry. Willing to enroll in an apprenticeship program if required. Proficient troubleshooting electrical/electronic equipment, software use, programming in an industrial setting. Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, strong computer aptitude, ability to handle multiple tasks. Acceptable color vision for operation of control monitoring equipment. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities Lift 60 lbs. from floor to waist level on a minimal basis. Carry 60 lbs. with both hands on a minimal basis; carry 12-16 lbs. occasionally. Push and pull 50-100 lbs. with whole and upper body strength occasionally. Work from heights using fall protection; stack work up to 250 ft. routine. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, neck flexion; occasional bending, stooping. Perform squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing and neck extensions minimally. Fine finger manipulation with simple grasp while pinching.
