Calgary, Canada Lancaster Capital Advisory Corp Full time

We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant, for a full time, permanent role. The role is to work as part of our Business Team in clientele services. This is a growth opportunity, ideally suited to a candidate who wants to continue their professional development in the accounting / financial reporting role. You must be collaborative, have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple clientele needs concurrently. This is a dynamic opportunity to learn and experience different industries from the accounting and finance perspective, developing skills pertinent towards a career as a Corporate Controller and even Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of quarterly reviewed (three separate quarters) and annual audited (year end) financial statements in accordance with IFRS including a comprehensive set of notes, MD&A, and analysis for Board review, comment, and acceptance.
  • Coordination in the execution of the quarterly review engagements and annual audit engagement by working directly with our Client’s external auditors, including completion and delivery of supporting documents that are required by the external auditors.
  • Preparation of all IFRS-related position memorandums based on established IFRS guidance in support of financial reporting disclosures and accounting policies of the Client as may be necessary for assurance-related engagements and/or Client public disclosures.
  • Preparation of all supporting calculations, valuations, and analytical models and other working papers required for financial reporting purposes and audit requirements.
  • Complete the month end accounting cycle and ensuring all financial activities are captured and reported in accordance with client policies, IFRS and ASPE.
  • Analyze financial results for reasonability, recommend efficiencies and provide superior financial analysis.
  • Assistance with the preparation of quarterly or annual reporting issuer’s documents for filing on SEDAR.
  • Liaising with the Client’s external auditors on all matters requiring one-off audit engagements, such as corporate transactions, re-organization, major corporate financings, etc. as they relate specifically to quarterly and/or annual financial statements prepared by Lancaster on behalf of the Client.
  • Participate in the full-cycle accounting functions which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital expenditures, treasury and month-end general ledger reconciliation and accompanying management financial reporting.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and internal reporting (management reports, forecasts, queries, etc.) as required by Client.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • Public practice experience with Big 4 firm is preferable.
  • Experience in oil and gas accounting and financial reporting, whether Canadian domestic or international, is favored.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems (Quickbooks, Sage, SAP, CaseWare) would be an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Capable of completing tasks in a timely manner with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills consistent with a dynamic fast-paced group setting working diligently with clientele.
  • Fast, proficient, and accurate data entry and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and remain positive.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to establish priorities with attention to detail in a small office environment.
  • Strong work ethic, curiosity, motivated and works well in a team and independently.
