This will be a mobile position, that involves working at multiple locations. The Support worker will be assigned to work at different homes at the discretion of the Homes Coordinator and On Call Person.
The Support Worker is expected to fulfill the responsibilities of the role in alignment with L’Arche Winnipeg's values, identity, and mission. This includes ensuring that the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, and recreational needs of members with developmental disabilities are met. The Support Worker will respectfully support members with their daily routines and personal hygiene, helping them become more independent.
Additionally, the Support Worker will administer medication, perform household duties as assigned by the House Leader or their designate, and manage the financial administration of the supported individuals.
A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are preferred. The role also requires the willingness to drive community vehicles as needed, as support is provided in all six of our homes in Winnipeg. Transportation expenses incurred for work purposes during scheduled hours will be reimbursed, and availability on weekends is necessary.
Tentative Start Date: July 1, 2024
End Date: March 31, 2025
Hours: 40 hours per week (Daytime and Evening shifts)

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Age of 18
Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal relationship skills
Minimum of 1 year experience in a Support Worker/Respite role
Certification in First Aid and CPR (not expired)
Valid Driver's License (Class 5F OR I)
Clear Criminal Record Check INCLUDING VULNERABLE PERSONS (within the last 36 months)
Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check (within the last 36 months)
Position may involve physical activity such as lifting, transferring, and transporting persons supported and equipment, and/or pushing wheelchairs, including up and down ramps.
Lift up to 50lbs alone.
TERMS:
This is a temporary full-time position.

Pay: From $15.71- $19.42/hour
