**Must have open availability and be willing to work a combination of days, evenings, weekdays & weekends. Flexibility in schedule required.**

**Must have a valid **_**class 5 driver's license & own vehicle**_ **(and be willing to transport participants in vehicle).**

** This is a female worker only position due to participant needs.**

Community Respite Service Inc. supports the caregivers and parents of children and adults with disabilities, by giving them much deserved breaks.

**About The Job**

Respite support workers provide respite in the participants home or by taking them to activities in the community.

Duties include (but are not limited to): Personal care, feeding, transferring, dressing, bathing, changing, toileting, assisting participants with life skills (cooking, cleaning, shopping), engaging in recreational activities with the participant, taking participant to activities in the community.

**What Are We Looking For?**
- Requirements:_

**Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check (no more than 3 months old) are required before interviews.** (Cost reimbursed after working 500 hours).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must willing to travel to different areas of the city.
- Must be able to speak, read & write English effectively.
- Must provide proof of double Covid Vaccination.
- Strong ability to effectively provide support to participants of all backgrounds.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Willing to Provide Personal Care to both Female & Male Participants/Clients.
- Ability to push wheelchairs and help with walking as needed.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to consider participant &/or family needs while providing support.
- Experience with lifting & transferring people is an asset.
- Experience with difficult behaviours is an asset.

Experience working in disability support field preferred but will consider a combination of education & work experience in a related field (**Starting wage dependent on education & experience**)
- Working, volunteering or personal experience with people with Disabilities (Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Brain Injury)
- Education in Disability and Community Support Program, Educational Assistant, Childcare, Health Care Aide, or related field
- Experience providing Personal Care (Bathing, Changing, Dressing, Feeding, Lifting etc.)
- Experience with Aggressive behaviors
