Our professional teams offer a diverse range of services including home support, residential care for children and youth, support for adults with I/DD, capacity development with indigenous communities, supervised access for families as well as private health and occupational health and safety services.Job SummaryReporting to the Client Care Coordinator, the Home Support Worker is part of a health care team that provides assistance to families or persons during times of illness, disability, or inability to properly care for their own needs. The home support worker also supports independence and the ability of the client to remain in their own homes and assists with the activities of daily living.ResponsibilitiesProvide personal care such as bathing, toileting, and grooming to the clientComplete housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and shoppingProvide companionship to the client and accompany them to community events, activities, and appointmentsFollow written plan of care as approved by the Client Care ManagerProvide specialized care such as Alzheimer or palliative care, if requiredDocument and report client progressPromote good mental health for the clientDevelop a caring relationship with the client and the client’s familyProvide emotional and psychological supportEnsure a healthy and safe living and working environment while following agency guidelines on lifting and transfersAdhere to and enforces CareGivers’ Code of ConductReport all Occupational Health and safety hazards and related issues and follows OH&S guidelineRequirementsMinimum grade 12 high school education and experience as a home support worker ORCertification as a home support worker (Preferred) ORWillingness to commence in-house trainingClear Criminal Record Screening Certificate and Vulnerable Sector Check obtained WITHIN 90 days (Or willing to obtain one BEFORE starting employment)Experience working with seniors and or physically disabled individualsMedical certificate indicating good healthNegative TB skin testUp-to-date Immunization RecordCurrent First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtainAbilities RequiredWillingness to work flexible shifts in various locationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsWilling and able to use IT systems for scheduling and client care purposesAbility to work as part of a team or independentlyGood decision making and problem solving skillsAbility to lift 25 poundsAbility to build good relationships with the clientMust be caring, enjoy working with others, have a good work ethic, and possess a positive attitudeWhat's in it for me?
