This role involves writing, editing and translating a variety of materials, ensuring accuracy, consistency of tone, style, and messaging across all channels. The Specialist collaborates with colleagues across departments (Conservation, Marketing, and Development) to identify, craft and share compelling stories, supports media relations and content production, and helps promote and maintain the organization’s reputation and voice in both official languages. With a strong knowledge of the French‑Canadian market, the Specialist will be responsible for adapting and executing on strategy meant to engage Francophones in WWF‑Canada’s work. Key Responsibilities Develop, write, edit and translate communications materials (media releases, web and social content, newsletters, reports, internal updates) in both English and French, ensuring linguistic and cultural relevance and accuracy. Showcase conservation impact by identifying, shaping and sharing stories that highlight WWF‑Canada’s work on protection, stewardship, ecosystem restoration, species recovery, nature‑based climate solutions and Indigenous‑led conservation. Ensure WWF‑Canada speaks with one voice, prioritizing tone, accuracy and alignment with conservation priorities across all communications. Support media relations in both languages, drafting news releases, pitches and key messages, monitoring French media and preparing spokespeople for interviews to strengthen WWF‑Canada’s visibility and reputation. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Conservation, Marketing, Community Giving and Development teams to plan and deliver integrated campaigns that drive awareness, engagement and support for Regenerate Canada – our 10‑year strategic plan. Provide French language and market expertise by identifying content opportunities and communication tactics best adapted to the French audience; developing key messages; participating in the ideation and adaptation of campaign concepts; strategically identifying and cultivating relationships with key French communications influencers (content creators, influencers, bloggers, etc.). In collaboration with the Senior Specialist, Social Media, contribute to WWF‑Canada’s social media channels with timely, audience‑focused content in both languages, optimized for reach and engagement. Monitor and report results, including engagement, reach and content performance to inform future storytelling and strategic communications efforts. Assist the Communications team as required, with other related duties contributing to the mandate and successful operation of the department and organization. What we are looking for 4+ years’ of progressive experience in a communications or writing role with demonstrated skill and ability to successfully translate complex technical information into accessible communications. Related post‑secondary education, preferably in communications, marketing, fundraising, public relations, journalism, politics or science communications, OR an additional 2+ years of related experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English. Strong understanding of social media platforms and their respective audiences. Proficiency in social media management tools (such as Sprout and Meta Business Suite). Knowledge of translation software (Logiterm) is an asset. Graphic design and video editing skills (Canva) are an asset. Proven ability to work within a collaborative team environment. Ability to work with senior management and offices in different locations. Knowledge of basic principles of sound project management. Experience working in a conservation environment is an asset.
