Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant
Part time 21 hours per week

Hazelburn Co-op is a 78-unit apartment building located at Jarvis and Shuter Streets downtown Toronto. We are looking for a Bookkeeper/Administrator. It is a 21 hours per week position with one evening per week.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and work experience in the Co-operative Housing Sector
  • Proficiency in Quick Books accounting software of QuickBooks
  •  Some working knowledge of NV2 would be an asset.
  • Pays attention to detail, strong time management, problem-solving communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Knowledge of FCHI-2 Subsidies 
  • Able to work independently
  • Exhibits initiative, flexibility, and good judgement
  • Ability to work with volunteers in a diverse community
  • Maintain a complete set of books using QuickBooks
  • Working knowledge of NewViews 2 is an asset
  • Bank and credit card reconciliation, preparation of monthly financial statement, invoice and payment processing, sales tax return preparation and filing, accounts receivable and payable management, compliance with tax and financial requirements, cash flow management, monthly arrears report
  • Basic understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting
  • Prepare annual housing charge letters
  • Audit preparation and support
  • General month and year end closings
  • Other duties assigned by the Board of Directors and Manager

Administration

  • Collaborating with the manager and maintenance manager daily
  • Filing – member invoices, other financial information on a weekly basis
  • Provide admin support to the Manager as required
