About the Role Performs ongoing comprehensive client credit analysis for an assigned number of client portfolios to assess the business entity’s overall financial health and credit risk using discretionary authority within prescribed limits. Applies lending expertise to a lending product portfolio or part of the lending process (e.g. underwriting, funding, monitoring). Makes credit decisions or provides timely advice to the business banking relationship manager for action in compliance with internal controls and audit, regulatory, and Bank policies and procedures. Responsibilities Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy. Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues. Breaks down strategic problems, and analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Coordinates the management of databases; ensures alignment and integration of data in adherence with data governance standards. Builds change management plans of varying scope and type; leads or participates in a variety of change management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives. Leads or participates in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develops tailored messaging; and identifies appropriate distribution channels. Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs. Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service. May specialize as either a funding specialist or a credit analyst. As a funding specialist, facilitates the funding process acting as a final and independent control point for legal documentation and ensures that the security/legal documentation reflects what was approved; all terms and conditions noted in the credit application have been met; proper execution/perfection of all documents prior to funding/releasing funds; assesses significance of any security or conditions shortfalls, credit and fraud risks. Analyzes lending applications to identify, correct, and make credit decisions or advise of deficiencies and/or exceptions in accordance with sound credit granting principles; recommends remedies to maintain acceptable asset and credit quality. Analyzes lending applications to confirm security valuations and completes and approves credit applications for authorization in compliance with the Bank’s business banking lending policy. Develops risk profiles, credit structuring of lending proposals, and completes credit investigations. Responds to inquiries and resolves issues raised through audits and quality checks to adequately document lending decisions. Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders. Ensures alignment between stakeholders. Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhance analysis, and/or streamline reporting. Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards. Monitors and tracks performance and addresses any issues. Follows security and safeguarding procedures and applies due diligence in accordance with Bank’s policies and ethical standards for the prevention of loss due to fraud, robbery, counterfeiting, money laundering, or defalcation. Adheres to business banking lending process, policies, procedures, legal, regulatory, audit, and ethical requirements. Maintains the confidentiality of customer and Bank information in compliance with Bank policies and procedures. Identifies risks and takes appropriate actions, including all documentation and other regulatory requirements to maintain operational integrity. Liaises between clients and various departments across the organization to discuss issues and procedures, and provide product support and expertise. Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus. Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced understanding of business banking products, lending process and directives, credit risk policies and standards, supporting processes, applicable legal and regulatory requirements, and Bank policies. Strong knowledge of credit qualification and adjudication standards, policies, and procedures. Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience. Data driven decision making - In-depth. Salary $56,000.00 - $103,500.00 Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure.
