The temporary contract will commence as soon as possible and may end on or before June 30, 2026.ResponsibilitiesPrepare and deliver the core English program requirements in assigned grade levels (English 12, Creative Writing 12, English 8, English 9) following the BC Ministry of Education curriculum in alignment with the Southridge Senior School Educational PlanCollaboratively plan within the department to develop and design consistent and well-articulated programsAssess and report on student academic progress and effort, drawing attention to areas of achievement and areas requiring further developmentSupervise and manage student deportment, including behaviour and adherence to uniform expectationsMonitor students’ academic, co-curricular, and personal growth as a homeroom advisorAttend and participate in core school functions and special eventsParticipate in the co-curricular programme of the schoolAdditional duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Faculty HandbookQualificationsA Bachelor of Education degree, with undergraduate studies in EnglishHold a valid BC teaching certificateKnowledge of Harkness discussion-based teaching and learning is an assetExperience teaching in a technology rich environment is an assetCo-curricular coaching experience is valuedMust be highly collegial and a collaborative team partnerAdvanced Placement experience is an assetExperience teaching at the Senior School level in an independent school environmentEffective interpersonal skills to establish connections with students and parents in the role of advisorA proven understanding of adolescent social and emotional needsVALUESThe ideal candidate will be aligned with values and mission of Southridge, will want to be an active member of a vibrant school community, and will demonstrate a desire to make a difference in the world. The salary range for this position is from $71,213 to $116,179.
