Job Purpose The Intermediate Steel Detailer is responsible for developing drawings based on client specifications and provides leadership to other drafters. Responsibilities Display a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture. Perform job responsibilities while fully and effectively participating in all relevant company programs, policies, procedures, and initiatives. Work closely with the Senior Detailers and Checkers on all aspects of a project. Mentor, train, and support Junior Detailers. Identify and report any contract discrepancies or inconsistencies to supervision. Model all facets of moderately complex structures and input connections. Produce clear, accurate and well laid out erection drawings. Identify and challenges connection design anomalies and inconsistencies. Edit most types of assemblies. Able to run and issue model generated reports and camdata. Qualifications A post-secondary diploma from a structural engineering drafting and technology course or an equivalent is preferred and exhibit a willingness to study further. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the structural steel construction industry, primarily in a fabrication drafting environment. Demonstrate experience in the use of Tekla Structures. A good understanding of technical structural drafting terminology is required. Working knowledge and understanding of fabrication and assembly processes. Have a good understanding of welding symbols and procedures. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Ability and willingness to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Ability to demonstrate passion for one’s work. Ability to sell the vision, values, and beliefs of the organization. Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines. Some positions may require standing for intermediate periods of time while completing tasks. Physical Conditions The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.
