OverviewField Service Technician position supporting the vapor group in the refining and petrochemical industries for John Zink, a Koch Engineered Solutions company.What You Will DoTravel to job sites from your home office to perform checkout, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning/startup of a wide variety of electrical and mechanical equipment for manufactured equipment.Perform maintenance on equipment, including pumps, motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, combustion equipment, emission monitoring equipment, recorders, and PLCs.Commission, troubleshoot and alter different types of PLCs (Net brands include Allen Bradley, Emerson, and Wonderware), PID loop controllers, VFDs, HMIs, and other control devices.Modify technical documents and drawings (redlines) to reflect final field changes for commissioning of equipment.Travel extensively within Canada and potentially the US; minimum 75% travel expected.Be on call for customer service as needed.Basic QualificationsExperience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4-20 mA loop devices.Experience diagnosing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, GE).Experience understanding and applying NEC or CEC.Experience reading P&ID diagrams, fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics.Able to travel over 75% of the time.Valid Canadian driver’s license and ability to drive a company vehicle and respond to customers as needed.Physical RequirementsAble to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and 25 lb routinely; able to bend, stoop, crawl, and maneuver around equipment and piping.Able to hear, distinguish colors, and see clearly in close and distant ranges.Work is outdoors with long days on occasion.What Will Put You AheadExperience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix/Studio 5000, GE Rx3i, and other PLCs.2-year technical degree or 4 years of military service with boilers; field work experience in petrochemical, power, renewable energy, pulp & paper, or food processing industries.Experience with Modicon and Siemens PLCs; electrical journeyman license.Experience with industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, CSA B149.3) and related guidelines.Experience working on industrial electrical/electronic equipment including motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, and PLCs.Employer InformationThis position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
