We are searching for a Recreation and Wellness Manager to join our Parkland on the Glen team based in Mississauga, Ontario. Meaningful Benefits Comprehensive health, vision, and dental benefits plan (eligible immediately upon hire for part-time & full-time staff) including an Employee and Family Assistance Program Life, travel, and other insurances Access to virtual healthcare 24/7 for FREE through the group health benefit plan RRSP program (5% employer matching) Vacation accrual (begins immediately) and travel insurance Free onsite parking Access to thousands of perks vendors and discounts through our WorkPerks program, including excellent discounts for apparel, restaurants, technology, fitness, travel, and tickets to some of your favorite sports and entertainment events Access to continuing education and training through Shannex’s Centre of Excellence Opportunities to be part of sector innovation and continuous improvement initiatives Recognition and Rewards for service excellence and safety About The Opportunity Provides leadership and oversight to all operational elements of the Recreation and Wellness department to ensure compliance to brand standards, policies, procedures, and applicable legislation Supervises, directs, and evaluates the work of the Recreation and Wellness team Oversees the full recruitment process of Recreation and Wellness team members Ensures new team members are orientated and trained on all departmental standards Manages the professional development of the team Monitors performance and provides coaching Completes performance and development discussion for team members Holds regular departmental meetings and team talks Adheres to both provincial and Shannex food safety standards and holds team to the same standards Takes every reasonable precaution in all circumstances to ensure the health and safety of team members and all others in the workplace, including but not limited to, providing supervision, training, information, and equipment needed for employees to do their job safely Maintains safety and sanitation in the department to meet legislative / organizational standards Ensures Resident safety by following and applying all standard operational procedures, safe work practices and training provided About You Minimum of five (5) years of people leadership experience in a recreation or wellness setting Experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment Degree in Recreation or other related disciplines including Kinesiology, Personal Fitness Instruction, Music Therapy, Gerontology or Event Planning Current Food Safety Certification Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification Valid Class 4 Driver’s License Training in Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias About Us Shannex is a family-owned organization with a vision of Better Living for every stage of life.
