Job Description

Mission
Reporting to CIMA+'s Executive Vice President of Transportation, the Director of Transportation Engineering located in Nova Scotia will lead our transportation expansion efforts into the Maritime region. You will be instrumental in the development of our business in the Maritimes and will ultimately be responsible for performance, growth, and profitability of the group. You will implement new strategic initiatives into the market of the area working collaboratively with other CIMA+ sectors and bring deep market knowledge with a focus on transport planning, transportation infrastructure (Roads and Bridges) and similar markets. This role will be based in the CIMA+ Halifax office.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Identify, contribute to and lead business and strategic development initiatives for regional objectives and target client programming
  2. Work collaboratively with other CIMA+ business lines to identify and pursue opportunities with Nova Scotia and Maritime Authorities and public & private clients
  3. Develop a growth strategy and implement it with the addition of Transportation staff to CIMA+
  4. Provide thought leadership, regulatory oversight and mentorship to the developing and growing team and your clients, both internal and external
  5. Engage in development initiatives related to transport planning, transport infrastructure (roads and bridges)
  6. Champion safety and quality and ESG initiatives
  7. Define, implement, and maintain appropriate operating standards and processes

Profile

  1. Minimum 10 years of experience working in the transportation market in Nova Scotia and the Maritimes, with a preferred focus on bridges and roads projects
  2. Professional Engineer, or other professional designation, registered or eligible to be registered in Nova Scotia
  3. Experience with corporate strategic planning initiatives and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategies
  4. Demonstrated considerable understanding of the overall market including future influences and trends
  5. Excellent interpersonal communication (both oral and written in English), client engagement and ability to interact effectively within all levels of the organization in collaboration
  6. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in personnel and performance management, decision making, change management, employee development, and team building
  7. Excellent customer service acumen to support challenging situations along with sound commercial judgement and management skills as well as entrepreneurial ability
