OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Estimator to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the successful delivery of heavy civil construction projects by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a range of infrastructure works including roadworks, utilities, bridges, and earthworks.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement staff to develop construction methodologies and project timelines.Solicit and review supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and complete pricing.Participate in bid reviews and ensure all aspects of the tender are complete and in accordance with company standards.Maintain and update estimating databases and historical cost records.Assist in preparing project budgets, change orders, and cost analysis during execution as needed.QualificationsDiploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects.Strong understanding of civil construction practices, drawings, and specifications.Proficiency with estimating software (such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceExtended health and dental benefitsOpportunities for career development and advancementDynamic work environment with a focus on safety and innovationFor more current job opportunities, follow MatchBox at linkedin.com/company/matchbox-recruitment/About MatchBoxHeadquartered in downtown Vancouver and serving clients nationally, MatchBox is one of the leading recruitment and solutions firms that specializes in the fields of IT & Technology, Engineering & Technical, Real Estate & Construction, and Accounting & Finance.
